Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
Hi, I've just joined today.
I've had T1 since 1983 and rarely discussed my condition in full with anyone other than my Nurse and Consultant. I thought it might be nice to join a community of people who can empathise. I'll probably have some questions too.
Xx

Welcome to the forum @Doodlebug!

Glad you have joined us!

Yes T1 diabetes can be very isolating, and it’s quite common for people to go years (decades in my case) and almost never see, meet, or speak to another T1 - and then only meet one who seems to have a very different sort of T1 experience!

That’s what makes wider T1 and diabetes peer support interactions so powerful - there are so many ‘I get that too!!’ moments when you have a bigger crowd to share experiences with!

And I find I hear suggestions and new strategies very differently if they come from others living with T1, vs those suggested by healthcare professionals.

Ask away with any questions. We have literally centuries of lived T1 experience on the forums for you to dive into 🙂
