Multi-level marketing (e.g. Herbalife, Kleeneze, Forever Living Products, etc.) are perfectly legal. No-one gets paid unless products are sold.Ah. This I did not know. 🙄

Pyramid schemes (illegal) are a different kettle of fish! There, people make their money by recruiting others into the scheme. The higher level you join at, the more you pay, and the more money those recruiting you make as a result. No incentive to actually sell any products to generate income.
