Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi all, I have recently found out I have diabetes type 2 and want to find out a lot more about it. I was feeling off colour for quite a while but am not really sure if diabetes is the culprit

Hi

How long ago is recently, what treatment are you on for it, describe 'off colour' as we can't see you or hear you so we need more info to take a stab at it and make suggestions. At the moment - we have no chance! LOL

The latter part of last month, I am homeless so I dont get a chance to get online much, I have been prescribed Glidazide.

I had no idea I had diabetes, I had suffered a month+ with the most awful flu and went to see a doctor because it would not go, she told me I had high sugar levels and called an ambulance from the surgery, I spend a few days in hospital, they gave me one medication which I reacted to badly, I went to a diabetic sufferers local meeting then was given a booklet and that's all I know really.

I dont know if my blood sugars are high or low or what I should feel like if they are or are not, the stresses of my life dont really allow me to think much about my health, as long as I am still breathing is a good day for me at the moment.

It would be helpful to know what foods I should avoid, I dont get much choice from whats on offer.

Hi miffed. Just replied to yout post on thee general message board. If you want to get better informed you are in the right place. You can do no better than checking out the main site and browsing this forum and then asking questions.

Hello @Miffed

Welcome to the forum

A good introduction to T2 diabetes which is often recommended here is Maggie Davey’s letter

Symptoms of high blood glucose generally include tiredness/lethargy, unquenchable thirst and needing to urinate more often. Sometimes weight loss too (particularly in T1) and ‘pear drop’ breath if things are getting serious

Symptoms of low blood glucose often include things like tiredness (again!), anxiety, trembling, sweating, tingling lips, shaking, weakness, disorientation and visual disturbance.

With undiagnosed diabetes is would be high BG symptoms that you would experience.

But the body is amazing at adapting, and some people can have T2 diabetes for years with hardly any symptoms at all!
