Hi MrsHutt, welcome to the forum 🙂 Yes, we have a few people on Byetta and they seem to be getting on well with it. If you have any questions, we'll do our best to help! How long have you been diagnosed?

Have been diagnosed about 10 years, after having gestational diabetes 20 and 15 years ago.

Have just started Byetta (10 days ago) and my numbers have come right down and are generally 5 - 8. My appetite has gone right down and I have lost 7lbs already! However, I have had lows overnight and twice scary hypos. I think what I'm doing wrong is eating my evening meal about 8ish, taking my BM about 10 and as it's been <5> thinking 'that's nice and low'. I think I should have a snack just before bed (12 midnight-ish), so that I'm not awoken 3-4am???

Hi

Welcome to the forum x

Hi:D

I have been on Byetta since October - getting on very well with it. I was diagnosed about the same time as you! I also take 6x 500 metformin a day - that is the max and I couldn't take other meds due to a weight problem.

The weight loss slowed down for me after Xmas and I am now following a program of no to low carbs at brekkie and lunch with modest carbs at dinner time and this is working well for me. My BS levels are close to "normal" and the weight is slowly shifting - it is my will power that fails me, not the meds! The Byetta while not so effective in curbing my appetite as it was in the first few months, does help me feel full so that when the urge to eat gets the better of me I stop a lot sooner than I used to. A win win situation for me:D

Good luck with the medication - ask away if you have any questions and if you want to know a bit more about the carb issue, do read Wallycorkers excellent advice on this issue:D
