Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
Hi, I`m Rich (only by name unfortunately) and have been type 1 since I was 8 and am now 53 . live life as I need to and have blood sugars that wander up and down quite a bit . looking forward to finding a few answers to some things that are bothering me that my Doctor shrugs off as one of those things ….

Hi Rich and welcome to the forum. 🙂 That's what blood sugars do isn't it? :D Are you on injections or using a pump? Anyway, good to have you on board. 🙂

Thanks , and yes they do , nothing worse than your health care pro telling you that you need to tighten your sugars up and they have no idea how !! :D Anyway after 40 years of diabetes starting to get concerns about memory loss so thought I might try and find some answers on here. but loving life 🙂 sorry, on injections , daughter is on the pump and seems like to much thinking is involved lol

Positive outlook on life is good. 🙂 It's funny you mention about memory as I've recently had concerns about occasional memory lapses and thought is it due to bg control over the years or am I just imagining it. Despite my best efforts my levels could be a bit rollercoaster-like. I moved onto the pump 1.5 years ago and levels now are much steadier, obviously not perfect, but better.

Welcome to the forum @Rich C .

There are quite a few on here using MDI and getting good levels.
What insulin’s are you using for your basal and Bolus?
Timing of insulin injections ca;pen make all the difference.

Welcome Rich, You may already know, its the carbs that turn to sugars in the blood, white bread, rice, pasta, potatoes etc. Just reduce your portion size that will lower your blood sugars. The carbs & cals book is useful for this: https://shop.diabetes.org.uk/products/carbs-cals

Hi @Rich C welcome to the forum.🙂 Can you elaborate on what Doc is concerned about? Don`t be overconcerned about the memory, I can`t remember what I done tomorrow.😳
