Hi Grogg 1, very interested to see you mention sausages, i was told to avoid them due to the amount of breadcrumbs in them. I'm guessing you mean the butcher's own sausages with higher meat content?
I was shocked at the difference in sausages a Richmond thick pork sausage contains 7.8g yet 2 Tesco Finest Pork & Leek sausages only has 4.7g I much prefer the tesco ones too actually haha

Hi Sarah and a warm welcome from me. Another type 2. I have good and not so good times keeping on track but find walking as much as possible a good exercise to help lower BGs.

I know it is my own fault as I do not eat at regular times and do not have the best diet, but hey I have got to sort myself out now but at least I know now and hopefully can turn it around. With regard to medication had stated that they prefer to start you straight away.
Not necessarily your fault; plenty of folk have bad diets but don't get diabetes, genes play a part too. However you're right that there's plenty you can do to take control. This is a great forum to come to because of the wealth of experience and goodwill.

As other's have said watch the carbs in them. I have 1 sausage with breakfast and probably cheapish sausage from work canteen but I have measured my blood sugar 2 hours post breakfast and it's fine. However I pigged out on 4 sausage for tea one evening with just green veg and my rise was too much so I checked carb content of these sausage and it was high. I now buy more expensive sausages from Aldi that have 1/4 of the carb of the Richmond ones and there are only 6 in a pack so no danger of eating more than 3.
