Relationship to Diabetes
Parent of person with diabetes
Hi we are Paul ( dad) Kelly ( mum) and Emily-Grace,

Emily is 6yr old has been diagnosed type 1 for a little over a month.

Joined the forum today to see if there is other families in the Grimsby ( Lincolnshire area )

Yes the nurses with the diabetic team at the hospital are very supportive and in contact very regular. We are looking for local support groups in the area so that my daughter can see she is not the only child who has diabetes
 
Probably your best local option is to speak to your DSN as although you are not alone, there are not too many on your situation. @Shivles is in a similar situation along with others, @Redkite is a nice warm and helpful mum, who has more years experience.
 
Hi. Under the main Diabetes U.K. Homepage, there is a section called How we Help within which there is a link to local support groups. Hopefully there will be one in your area.
BTW, your daughter has a beautiful name.🙂

Hi Paul, Kelly and Emily-Grace,

My son has had type 1 since age 4 (now a lovely 15yo), and it definitely helps to meet and share tips with other families. We aren't in your area, but you could try asking at your clinic if there are any local support groups. Also, if you're on Facebook, CWD- Main Group is a lovely supportive group, and you're bound to find type 1 families near to you.
