Hello and welcome Tracey from a T2.

Hi Tracey, welcome to the group..... Don't worry about posting to the wrong place, we usually see the post

Hi Martin. Thank you. I've reposted in the right place now so hopefully there is some answers out there for me. I have no idea at the moment exactly what im dealing with as Im still waiting for more blood tests and a liver scan to be done as well as seeing the diabetic nurse which isnt until the 19th. Until then I feel as if im in limbo. It seems like this is a good place to share experiences and just to chat.

You are indeed in a great forum, lots of well experienced folk here who can offer help, advice & encouragement

I've just read your other reply and thank you. If it happens again what should I do. I didnt eat anything sugary for quite a while afterwards but I did have half a sandwich and lots and lots of water. All I know at the moment is that im type 2 with my count(?) being 49 which is just over. I yet to see a diabetic nurse which is on the 19th and I have to do the fasting blood test on the 9th. No need for any medication at the moment as I've been told I can control it with diet and exercise. So im guessing I'm lucky that I can reverse the diabetes or am I fooling myself as there is so much conflicting info out there. Stick to where the people know best and not Google!

Also since I was initially diagnosed I have hanged my diet therefore cutting out a lot of sugary foods, changing my lattes to soya lattes etc. Too much too soon?

If it happens again, having something to eat usually helps-but you dont need anything sugary! A cracker, half a sandwich as you did there, even something carb free like a lump of cheese can help!
The false hypos will stop happening - as Martin said, its just your body getting used to a lower (better!) Blood sugar level.

I think you did right, sometimes the body just needs a little bit of food, I remember wobbling from the living room to the kitchen, totally confused, and diving into the refrigerator to make myself a wrap without knowing what was happening.... A few months later I found out that they were false hypos

Just a couple of things to get you started (despite medical opinion that T2's not on anti-diabetic medicines are too dumb to interpret blood glucose readings) most of us advocate testing.... A good BG meter (and cheap) is the SD Codefree from Amazon, your GP will probably not give you a meter under prescription.
Additionally (with testing) you will learn what foods affect you, many of us just do not tolerate bread, pasta, rice, cereals & starchy foods like Potatoes.

Thank you Annette. It's a relief to hear that these will stop and although I have only joined today I have been given more info than the Dr's have offered. Thanks so much

Hi Tracey, welcome. I have shared your confusion of it all including waits for fasting blood test, results then a further wait to see the Diabetic Nurse. In the beginning I was just told I had diabetes (June 2016) but not what type. However, I did an educated guess of Type 2 and that was correct. I also have had great responses regarding my questions. Bought a meter to self test which gives more confidence than feeling like guddling about in the dark, so to speak. It teaches you quite a lot.
Good luck in going forward.

Welcome Tracy. Am new to this place myself but have learnt a lot in the past couple of weeks by reading all the posts. Friendly and helpful people and willing to share info and experience. Good luck
