Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
Hello everyone,
I am a newbie on this website but have been a subscribed member to 'Balance' for many years and have had type 1 diabetes since October 1978, so have been through all the improvements that have made having diabetes a lot more bearable. For all the newbies just diagnosed take heart, I deal with my diabetes easily and routinely without a second thought and get on with my life. I am on 4 injections a day and test my sugars whenever in doubt and always before bed (so I don't go all night with too high (or too low) sugar levels. If my sugars are high I give my self an insulin top up, if too low I eat - then retest after an hour. Diabetes has not prevented me from working in a job where I travel all over the country. I also enjoy regular holidays abroad often in the USA. Diabetes is now only a minor irritation and not the big deal I thought it was when I was first diagnosed all those years ago.
Regards
Steve
