Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
Hi, I'm Joe 21, got diaganosed a year ago, type 1, injecting or meant to be 4 times a day, finding it really hard to cope with, cant get my head round eating right foods and injecting right amounts of insulin, feel bad all the time. Diabetes clinc was good at first, but dont any support now, is there anyone out there who has felt like this, I feel so angry that I have it, any ideas how to cope

hi joe i only started injecting about 7 months ago i have been there {still am}
but i have found this forum so helpful and friendly i hope you feel better and look forward to seeing on here

Hi Joe, welcome to the forum🙂 I'd recommend a book called 'Type 1 Diabetes in Children, Adolescents and Young Adults: How to Become an Expert on Your Own Diabetes' by Ragnar Hanas ( a bit of a mouthful!). See if you can get a copy from your library, it is really excellent and will explain everything you need to know. Knowledge is very important with this condition and it will give you much more confidence and freedom to get on with your life.

I'd also recommend voicng your concerns to your DSN - just talking things through will help. Have you been on a carb-counting course? That may also help and give you a chance to meet other diabetics in your situation which can be priceless.

Let us know how things go! You CAN tackle this - any questions are always welcome.🙂

welcome joe....tough stuff eh? but you will get alot of support here ! Im type 2 on med only but wait for a bit and the 'insulin' lot will kick in...check out the parents threads always very interesting good luck x

Hi Joe and welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear it's a bit tough for you right now. There are plenty of people who feel/have felt just the same as you. This forum is brilliant for support, advice, ideas, I'm sure you won't regret joining.

xx

Hey joe.

I have struggled a bit trying to get my levels down, but coming on here has helped me soo much! so please stick around and ask any questions you want, i'm sure you will benefit from it.

I'm 23 and have had diabetes 5 years. PM me if you want to chat!

Hi Joe, welcome aboard, hope you settle down soon. I've only been at this game for about a year too, wow a lot can happen in that first year!! I felt a bit alone from my diabetic team at the hospital a while ago so I phoned up made an apointment and nursey was upset that I hadn't been in so she made an appointment for me for 3 months time, felt much better, so maybe is it worth giving them a call for an appointment for a chat??

Either way you've done right/well to find this place lots of people here to help us all out, have a good look around.

See you around

Rossi 🙂
