I'm Jo and married to Mark who has type 2 diabetes. He's had all sorts of complications and now is leaking fluid from his legs. Does anyone else know anything about this? The doctor just says he's seen it before and get on with it (how splendid is that?)
Hi Jo, welcome to the forum🙂 It does sound pretty appalling that Mark's doctor has been so unhelpful and dismissive. What does' get on with it' mean? I don't have any personal experience of what you describe, but I think it would be wise to get the opinion of another doctor or possibly a diabetes consultant, if you have access to one.
A friend of mine (type 2 poor control) also has this problem, although this might have more to do with his weight, his gp is now complaining about prescribing dressings for him (dont you just LOVE the NHS).😉
When i reread m post it seemed a bit harsh saing m friend had poor control but it was relevant, he told me alcohol was ok for diabetics as hed had sixteen pints of cider on the saturda before and he was ok😱

That is a scary amount to drink - and DEFINITELY not good for a diabetic, or non-diabetic. His blood pressure must be sky high, and it is possible that this is contributing to his problems with his legs, as his kidneys may not be able to clear the impurities from his blood efficiently. 😱
hi Jo and welcome i have red blotches all over my legs and they weep alot i have dressing for them and e45 cream , this doc sounds like a farce what an insensitive soul i hope you cal sort it xx
Hi Jo, welcome to the forum - Gosh, I hope Mark can get help from some other source (Diabetic team at hospital/GP surgery??) as his GP sounds like a total cretin. It's only since joining this forum that I've realised how uncaring some folk in the 'caring' profession can be.
Hope you find the pages on here helpful, please always ask if you need to know anything - someone will be able to help, or guide you in the right direction to find an answer.
xx
