Type 2
Hi everyone. I've been type 2 for about 2 years now. I've been treated with tolbutamide so far but dosage had been doubled. I was told yesterday my pancreas is failing so need to start on insulin in a couple of weeks depending whether the double dose of tolbutamide works but the nurse doesn't think it will

Hi nok and a warm welcome to the forum, lots of people have made the transition from pills to insulin on here so any reassurance or help you need just ask.

Enjoy the boards x

Welcome to the forums nok 🙂

I had to google that med to see what it was. Not one that I've seen written here before!

Sulphonurea, bit like Gliclazide etc - ie it encourages your own pancreas to produce more insulin. If your pancreas is no longer capable of doing that at all, then of course insulin is your only choice.

At least you've had time (2 years) to start getting your head round that! LOL (some of the rest of us had about a minute's notice!)
