Welcome to the forum blueandgold 🙂

Is you husband carb counting his meals? Is he on mix insulin or basal/bolus?

Hi blueandgold, I cant answer your question about home help, but surely his GP or diabetic nurse should be there for you, and refer you for support if you need it.

I think many of us have found that whilst we get good medical care, the day to day management of our health is down to us, as you say, what you can and cant eat. However, he should still be given advice as to how this works.

hi there,

start with a couple of self help posts from the stickies section at the top of this thread...

Could I ask please, is he registered partially sighted? Is that the help you are looking for in the home? Special adaptations or something?

Plus you can always request an appt with a dietitian - some of whom are better than others. I would suggest that wives should attend dietitian meetings with their diabetic husbands as the wives are still - even in this day and age! - usually more in charge of the eating department than the husbands! LOL And therefore you'll be able to ask the relevant questions about stuff you may not know about.
