Hi i just found out about this forum through the Diabetes UK Mag, i've been type one for twelve years now, i have two sons who keep me on my toes, a love of motorbikes, i train regularly and my interest in bodybuilding is progressing with time.

Hi Medusa, welcome to the forum! 🙂 You sound like you have a pretty active life - do you find it helps with your control? My levels are generally much improved when I'm training regularly (I'm a runner), although I usually have a few problems getting my insulin doses right after I've been lazy for a couple of weeks! What insulin regime are you on?

Looking forward to hearing more from you - nice that you found us via Balance, we've been pushing them for more mentions! 🙂

Hi Medusa. Welcome 🙂

Good to hear that our fame is spreading. I hope you'll find this a useful place to be. 🙂

Another hello and welcome 🙂

Have a look around and get stuck in. What sort of insulin regime are you on? How do you find it?

Hi Medusa

I don't ride, but don't recommend going hypo whilst riding pillion. Apparently it's very hard to keep em upright when your wife is hanging sideways off the back.

And all because of a batch of iffy insulin .......

😱

Welcome to the forums Medusa 🙂

hi Medusa.... welcome to the forum 🙂

Welcome Medusa.

For anyone with type 1 diabetes, interested in sports, http://www.runsweet.com/ is a great resource - not just running, but physiology principles and many individual sports are covered.

hi thanks for the welcome
my diabetes nurse recommended runsweet site to me so i have been taking a look at that over the last few days, my best hba1c was 7.2 and most recent was 7.5 eek just seen that some of yours are far lower i'm impressed. i take 16 units of lantus in a morning and then 2 of novorapid then 2-4 at lunch then 4-6 with my evening meal and often another 2 if i have a decent supper... i find the training helps keep my levels more stable and i tend to avoid any nasty peaks of sugar when i'm training also i find has a good effect for near 24 hours so training three times a week is enough for me..... i would hate to have a hypo or for someone else to on the back of a bike... i do take passengers and the smallest shift in weight is noticeable!!

Welcome to the forum Medusa 🙂 Very envious of your HbA1c results!!
