Hi all!

Thought it was about time I reappeared here. Hope you are all well. Had a hard time recently, but hopefully everything is coming together now. I've decided to start a blog. I have this horrible habit of not talking to those that are close to me, for fear of burdening them with my problems, so I'm giving blogging a go. We'll see how it goes. The link's below. Let me know what you thing!

Thanks!

Vicki 🙂

Vicki hi hun nice to see you back on the boards,I think it is a great idea to start your own blog we often tell the closest to us the least so at least you have this blog as a sanction, please dont forget this place though we will be hear for you for support too x

After reading through your blog I think its a great start just keep talking its a great therapy i look forward to seeing more ,take care

Very moving blog! Had tears in my eyes, please join the DWED website.

Good to hear from you Vicki. Hope things are looking up. How are your studies going?

Tom

I've added you to my blogspot reading list 🙂 I'll look forward to reading more! And it sort of motivates me to write on my blog, since I haven't for months :\ Its not like I don't have anything to say!!!!

Vicki, I do the same thing.

I used to moan about my husband not understanding and not having any sympathy for me when it comes to my diabetes, but then he quite rightly pointed out I never talk to him about it! When i looked back I realised I just got on with it and didn't mention any struggles or achievements with him. Things have changed and with me communicating more with him about it, he's also taken a big interest in it and is making the effort to understand the details. (we've only been together 4 years and for most of them I just got on with my diabetes, hence why he's never really needed to know anything).

I also now write a blog, and he knows where it is, so he can just take a look at it when/if he needs to. When I did my first 3, and then told him about it, he read it and then came to me and said 'I had no idea you felt like that'.

It's so easy to do though, but I've learned and I'm making more effort to embrace it, rather than ignore it and pretend to everyone else that I'm ok.

I hope you find it as useful as I did.

oh and if you need me to get you in touch with anyone at DWED, just let me know....I've been there too. but they are a great support, and well worth a phone call or email.

And I've subscribed to your blog too 🙂 we can remind each other to do a new one if we 'forget' to talk about anything!!

Thanks for the replies! Northerner, I have now visited the DWED website, so thanks for that link.

Steph, thank you for reminding me the forum's here. It sounds silly, but I come on everyday to read all the posts, but my first thought is never to post if I'm having a hard time. Will try to remember in the future that it's here for my use too!!

And, Tom, studies are going ok. Hard going, at the moment with deadlines, but other than that, it's all good. Can't wait till Christmas though. At least then the work will stop, haha!!

Katie, I've messaged you 🙂

What year are you in now? I've just started my nursing degree. DWED are a great bunch. Love them.

Tom

Currently in my second year. Go abroad next year, which is terrifying, especially with how I am at the moment, but I'm sure I'll get there.

So how do I go about actually getting in touch with DWED?! Can anyone point me in the right direction?!

Vicki 🙂

And, Tom, how are you finding your course? Where do you study again?

Vicki 🙂

Vicki, I didn't realise you were at uni. Same age/year as me. What course are you doing and where? 🙂

Also I totally know what you mean, i'm going abroad next year too (2012, easter). Absolutely dreading it. Only been once with the D and it was horrible as was eating all the wrong foods :( Espeically since i'm currently unmedicated.

And DWED can be found on facebook, I see your from Norwich actually and know of somebody who volunteers for them there! Guessing they are pretty active 🙂

Hi Liz!

I study French and Spanish at UEA, Norwich 🙂 what about you? And I'm still researching DWED. Not really sure what's available in the Norwich area at the moment!

Keep searching!

I'm at Reading studying Ecology 🙂 Except now i'm here and have friends at UEA on the same course I want to be there! Do you do a gap year or anything?
x

Yeah, I have a year abroad, one semester in a French speaking country, another in a Spanish speaking country. Submit my choices after Christmas, so lots of research to do over the Christmas break. And don't worry, I'll keep on searching!!

I've sent Vicki Jacq's details from DWED (on facebook) (DWED are back up and running again now) and some little bits of advice from me, as well as links to their website 🙂

I hope they're helpful Vicki 🙂
