Hey guys and gals,

Ummmm, I'm Chris, found out properly yesterday that I have type one diabetes so I thought I'd come and have a look round here and learn stuff and yeah, not sure what else I'm supposed to say so just, hello again!

Chris.

Hi Chris, welcome to the forum 🙂 Sorry to hear about your diagnosis - how were you diagnosed? There is a lot of good reading in our Useful links thread, but if you have anything you'd like to know, please ask and we'll try our best to help you out 🙂

Basically I did a check at Lloyds pharmacy, got referred to my GP who then referred me to the health centres specialist who in turn referred me to the hospital yesterday. Lots of being prodded, poked and fluid intaking later they diagnosed me.

Did they put you on any medication?

Welcome to the forum Chris 🙂

Hi Chris, welcome to the forum, but sorry you have had to join us. You must be feeling a bit overwhelmed by everything at the moment. Feel free to ask anything you want or just speak to people who understand more how you are feeling.

Did you have symptoms which made you go for a test?

I'm on Lantus and Novarapid or grey and orange as I call them.

As for symptoms, I worked out I'd lost about 4 stones in as many months without doing to much to aid it. Was also feeling the need to drink a lot of fluids and as such ended up going to the toilet a lot. Being a typical guy I ignored it at first but then after seeing an article in the paper followed closely by the diabetes bus tour of the uk van being parked right outside of work for a couple of days I took the hint and got checked out.

welcome to the forum from me tooo ...you found a good place with lots of good advice and experience ...remember no question is regarded silly here x🙂
