Thank you for answering me. My blood sugar was high when I got up. It's been confirmed for 20 days. The Doctor advised me to take long-acting insulin.Welcome to the forum @Colinnnnn
How long have you been living with T1?
Are you talking about glucose rises relating to breakfast? Or are you seeing a rise in the early hours / soon after you get out of bed?
Thank you very much for your answer. I was diagnosed 20 days ago. I was confused about what type of insulin pump to choose.Good morning @Colinnnnn and welcome to the forum.
Those early morning rises are irritating. When you wake up your liver decides to help out and dumps some glucose to help your body have enough energy to get going. This is the Dawn Phenomenon. For us with T1 there are no helpful beta cells to chuck out the insulin to match, so we get that rise. (Apologies if you already know all this) some find that they can head this off by eating a non carby snack as soon as they wake up -nuts or seeds. Once up you can do a correction added to your breakfast bolus. With an insulin pump it is possible to anticipate the rise and adjust your basal rate to reduce this.
If you are happy to do so let us know how you manage your T1
Multiple daily injections or pump?
Which insulin(s) ?
Are you using a sensor?
This information will help us to make more useful responses to your questions.
If you get spikes after your breakfast this can often be reduced by the timing of your bolus. I find that I need to inject at least 30 min before breakfast and a bit shorter for my other meals. I have found these out by trial and improvement.
I hope this helps and look forward to hearing more from you.
🙂Thank you.Hello @Colinnnnn and welcome to the forum.

It’s important to get to grips with insulin pens before considering a pump. 20 days is way too soon.China. Because I had to pay for my own insulin pump.
