Were you given the result of your HbA1c? This will be a number between 42-47mmol/mol - and knowing where you are in that range can help you understand to what extent your metabolism is struggling with the foods you are eating.

In general terms alongside obviously sweet and sugary things, the foods which most significantly raise your glucose levels will be carbohydrates, so reducing your portion sizes of pasta, rice, bread, cereals, pastry, potatoes, and many fruits.

It’s not that you have to avoid those entirely, but keeping an eye on portion sizes can really help your metabolism cope with your menu.
