Hi everyone. New here and very new to the whole Diabetes world. Very nervous and worried currently but hoping things will level out soon x

Welcome to the forum @Nicola7
I'm a relative newbie myself. The members of the forum are lovely and really knowledgeable.
I was diagnosed in November and completely understand your feeling both worried and nervous but it is possible to get yourself into remission by changing your eating habits and exercise. Are you handling your diabetes with diet alone or are you on any medication?

Welcome to the forum @Nicola7

Glad you have found us 🙂

It can be quite a lot to get used to in the early weeks and months, so be kind to yourself.

Were you told the result of your HbA1c at diagnosis - this will be a number above 47mmol/mol and can help you understand how far into 'diabetes territory' you are at the start, which in turn can help suggest how significant any changes you will be considering to your menu might want to be.

If you'd like to start getting your head around the whole subject of type 2 diabetes, you might want to register for an account with the Learning Zone (the orange tab in the main menu) which is packed full of informative bite-sized modules. Additionally, for a more personal take, members here frequently recommend Maggie Davey’s Letter to the Newly Diagnosed and Gretchen Becker’s book T2 Diabetes, the first year, which you can work through gradually and will give you a solid starting point.

How did your diagnosis come about? Was it a routine check? Or have things felt a bit 'off' for a while? Have you got anyone with T2 diabetes in your close family? Were you having any symptoms that sent you to the Dr?
