Relationship to Diabetes

Hello there I’m Brian and very new to this,think I’ve been in denial but starting to have fears over the future for me ☹️
 
Hi Brian and welcome

How long have you been diagnosed and how did it come about? ie routine blood test or symptomatic and if so, which symptoms?
Have you been given any medication to treat your diabetes?
Since you mention being in denial, I am going to guess that you haven't made any lifestyle changes ie. diet/weight loss and activity increase? These are a really important part of diabetes management and can be significantly more powerful than most medication and the new year is the perfect time to start a new healthier regime. If you take control of your diabetes and manage it well, you have little to fear from complications, so to a large extent your future health is in your hands now. I know that I now feel fitter and healthier and younger than I did pre diagnosis because I have changed my lifestyle. Diabetes can be easy to ignore in the early stages but it is really worth investing some time and effort in these early stages to drastically reduce the risk of complications with sight and mobility etc. later in life. It is never too late to start making a difference to your future.
 
If you are an ordinary type 2 then you could have returned to just about normal levels of after meal blood glucose in a month or so.
What you need is less carbohydrate as that is what we can't cope with.
If you start off by assessing your intake of carbohydrate for a meal and the total over the whole day - and abandon such misinformation as grain being a good food for Humans, (and particularly useful would be a glucose testing meter - there are some cheap to use ones available mail order) it should soon become clear what you can and can't cope with.
