I agree, the changes are many. I started on disposable syringes with mixed insulin 33 years ago and now wear a pump and just got funding for the rest of the closed loop system (Medtronic 780g) so it now like wearing a pancreas in your pocket . I use novo rapid insulin, it’s not near perfect but it’s working better with a pump than it did with mdi! I can’t imagine what will come next without getting all Star Trek ky! It’s very exciting!

Great to hear you are using the closed loop with 780G.
How are you finding it. I have been on it for 18 months now, and would not want to go back. As you say it is the closest we can get (at present) to a pancreas. I have found I think about my diabetes a lot less now, but get caught out at times, and have to find workarounds for things such as hot weather, and prolonged exercise. In general I find ways of telling the pump what it needs to know to get it to do what I want it to.
I’ve just started with the sensor .. it goes “live” on Tuesday, must admit I’m a wee bit nervously excited about giving up any pretence of control to the wee box we call Percival! But u am looking forward to some extra headspace I’m so glad to hear it’s working so well for you every advancement is most welcome isn’t it?

Thanks, yes all well here apart from 7 hypos in the last 2 days 😱 , but all very easily fixed. They are partly down to the heat and deciding to have a break from Libre as I was starting to get a little disillusioned after a couple of sensors which were less accurate and a concern that I was starting to micromanage my diabetes a little too much. I feel surprisingly carefree without it..... almost like I am no longer at it's beck and call, which is really quite refreshing as it is a while since I took a break from it and I expected to feel vulnerable without it as I have before. I think this is a reflection of my increased confidence in dealing with my diabetes now as oppose to even a year ago. The break will enable me to balance my mental approach to my diabetes management better in the long run and appreciate the Libre more when I go back to it in a week or two and remind me of how important it is to be in tune with and listening to my body rather than just relying on scanning my Libre. All good stuff!, so yes, I am very well thanks!
O no! I love the heat but it does come with its problems glad the hypos were easy fixes. Taking a break from the sensors sound like a good idea, it is easy to become overly dependent on them and begin to dismiss being in tune with your own body. (Or becoming so stressed out cause of the inaccuracy they sometimes have) .

We’ve been playing at being our own pancreases for a similar amount of time. Good to hear you are moving to a looping set-up. Hope the switch goes well 🙂

- Artoo (Replacement to Pancreas 2) - MDI being the first replacement
- Threepio (3rd Pancreas Object)
and now - HAL (Hybrid Automated Loop)
