Hi All
Not sure if I should be here but it said chronic pancreatitis and diabetes , Have CP but not Diabetes yet .
Started on August bank holiday 2012 taken to hospital with suspected heart problems that developed into severe stomach pains .From August to just before Christmas spent most of my time in Peterborough City Hospital . Diagnosed with Chronic Pancreatitis ( missed acute stage ) psuedo cysts , part of pancreas died ,drain fitted and almost constantly on antibiotics .Consultant said its a case of when and not if I get diabetes but so far stayed lucky on that score . Got back to work March April 2013 .
I have not had any pain since initial first few days unless I eat too much then get some pain in shoulder area .Pop 2-4 10k Creon a day

Hello Paul and welcome to the forum.
Sounds as if you have been through the mill. Forewarned is forearmed as they say. So a very smart move to learn what is involved.
Must admit to being surprised at how little Creon you take, so if you can get away with so little hopefully you are a very long way off developing diabetes.
I take 4 X 2500 for each meal and 10k per snack.

Welcome to the forum @paul.m

One of our members @eggyg might have some helpful experiences to share.

We have a few forum members who live with pancreatitis and/or type 3c diabetes.

Do you get regular checks and reviews as part of your pancreatitis management?

I am one of the lucky ones I have no pain eat what I like (except my favorite rum and raisin ice cream ), avoiding alcohol is no big deal to me . Have found a non alcoholic beer that is drinkable .
When I was discharged from hospital in 2013 was on twice yearly diabetes checks but as nothing was changing was cut to yearly and none since covid arrived .As for pancreatitis management never offered any and at moment I just pop a few creon a day . The biggest thing was being diagnosed with copd which I dispute as was told will be worse in winter and will get worse . After first year breathing results had improved and at last check same result as in 2014 . Did read somewhere not sure if true or not if pancreatic digestive juices get into blood stream they can attack other parts of body if that's true then assume they damaged lungs but not to extent of affecting my daily life .
