I’m new to this group but always looking for tips and advice with regards living with my sons diabetes. He was diagnosed at 2 so has been living with it for 9 years now. I wish I could say I was an expert by now, however every day continues to be a school day!!!

He goes to high school after the summer and I’m considering getting him an Apple Watch and would welcome any comments or views on this. I was thinking of the cellular watch but wasn’t sure if the full Dexcom app can be installed on the watch or whether he would still require to have his phone with him?

He’s using Dexcom G6 and the Tandem t:slim pump.

Thanks in advance.
Carol

Hi @Carol H, and welcome.

Being a recently diagnosed Type 2 myself, I can only offer you moral support and the reassurance that you are in the right place. Many others will be stopping by throughout the day, both Type 1's and parents.

There is a specialist Parents section on the main board, but for a general intro this is a good place to start.

In general you will probably want to hang out in the parents section. But, as your child gets older, canvassing the widest possible life experience in the General Message Board can, on occasion, offer dividends. I mean, we are a very mixed bunch, with a wide range of backgrounds.

I’m 30 years into the game now, and this remains true o_O:rofl::D

I’ve not managed to allow myself an Apple watch (too busy paying for the sensors!) but I think @mikeyB might have tried the Dex G6 and iWatch combo?

Welcome to the forum!

Hi there @Carol H and welcome to the forum! You have come to the right place and the community here have a wealth of knowledge and experience. As other members have mentioned, exploring the forum and the other groups, like the parent's group can allow you to source the most suitable information relating to your query.

Regarding your enquiry about the apple watch's compatibility with the Dexcom app, I have found this FAQ on the Dexcom website that goes into more detail. Take care and all the best
