Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
I have been type 1 (didnt really realise so many different types!) since 1984 quite old for juvinille onset (21) and found this forum when looking for an answer about my newly aquired pump - only had it for a couple of weeks but feeling much more in control! I would quite like to attend the birmingham meet and look forward to seeing some members there. I hope to pay back the information given and make some useful posts xx

Hi prin, welcome to the forum 🙂 I was even older - I was 49! 😱 What sort of pump have you got? Have a look in the pumping section - loads of people here will be able to help and support you with any questions you may have 🙂 It would be great if you can come to Birmingham!

Hi Prin. welcome 🙂

Glad you're getting on with a pump. Not quite ready for one here yet.

Hi Prin and welcome 🙂

Your circumstances don't sound hugely different to mine - I was 18, when diagnosed in '82. As Robster has hinted, I'm not sure whether I would like a pump either, as I have always been quite stable (OH may disagree to this!), so Id be interested in hearing more about what affect it has on your diabetes control and, perhaps more importantly, your life.

Need to get to grips with the forum since I don't get automatic email replies so have had to search for your replies thank you to you all The pump I have is a Roche one with a blue-tooth control set - unlike you chrismbee my blood sugars have been quite high for the last 4-5 years (unlike previously) hypo awareness has been decreasing so that's what has lead to the pump

20 days in i am loving it - if you want a little something it will give you tiny doses of insulin from .1 of a unit - and cos my maths is c**p it will tell you what you need after a meal if you have done a blood test taking into account a high or medium BS

what i need to do next is to get my basal rates right so that when i tell it how much carb I am consuming it can do its job properly!
