Type 1.5 LADA
Hello My name is Amanda and I have type 1.5 LADA diabetes requiring injecting daily insulin for the past 12 months. Prior to this I was able to control it with diet. I have joined this forum as I am hoping to gain some knowledge and helpful tips on how to obtain regular constant glucose levels. Thank you

Ah, great 🙂 It’s good you have both a basal (Lantus) and bolus (Trurapi) insulin so you can just eat normally. There are a number of people here with Type 1/LADA who were diagnosed at a similar age to you.

Hi and welcome from me too. I was a late starter with Type 1 5 years ago at the age of 55. It gets easier with practice but you can learn a massive amount about the practicalities of managing your BG levels here on the forum.

Are you carb counting and adjusting your Trurapi doses for the carb content of the meals you are eating or just injecting fixed doses at the moment?
Have you been offered a DAFNE (Dose Adjustment For Normal Eating) course or whatever your local equivalent is? This is a comprehensive course usually 5 days either all in a week or one day a week for 5 weeks. It teaches you about adjusting your doses (both basal and bolus insulin) to keep yourself safe in a whole range of everyday situations, like with exercise and illness and alcohol etc. as well as carb counting meals.

Do you have a sensor system to monitor your BG levels or are you relying on finger pricking still?

Is there anything particular that you have problems or concerns about? Feel free to ask any questions you have.

Look forward to getting to know you a bit better.
