Just thought I would introduce myself.

My name is Toby. I have often visited this forum, just never bothered to sign up, so I thought I would take the time to do so today.

I have often contributed to another diabetes forum, but as I am not a true low-carber (30-50g), I sometimes feel my opinions are not welcome, unless I follow the low-carb mantra.

Anyway, good to meet you all and hope I may contribute some worthwhile posts; this messageboard seems to be quite friendly and welcoming.

Hi Toby, welcome to the forum, glad you decided to join!🙂 As you have probably gathered, we don't push any kind of regime here, other than that which works for you as an individual which is what it should be all about. It would be interesting to hear of your experiences over 28 years - there must have been some real changes in diabetes care over that period!🙂

Welcome Toby, I'm sure you've got loads to share from your 28 years expereince and seen alot of changes in how diabetes is treated.
The low carb debate is a big one, here we have people who follow all sorts of diets and we don't push any type of diet, probbaly the majority are not low carbers here.
Like you i find that my blood sugars are better when moderating the amount if carbs I eat, but there are times when I like to eat 100g+ carbs in one go, and times when i only want 20g. It's nice to have a varied diet.
