Hi and welcome to the forum!! It’s a fantastic, friendly place full of useful advice.

I followed a low carb approach to my diabetes but this might not suit you, depending on what medication you’re on, if any.

Hi and welcome
I found this link very useful for a low carb approach, there are some meal plans to suit varies tastes and budgets based on real food so should fit in better with family life. https://lowcarbfreshwell.com/
It is suggested that low carb is no more than 130g carbs per day, it is not NO carb. It can be useful to keep a food diary of everything you currently eat and drink with an estimate of the carbs so you can see how far away from that and see where you an make some savings by cutting out or reducing portions of any high carb foods.

Welcome to the forum @Michael F

We have quite a few members who find a lower carb way of eating really helps them manage their diabetes. Exactly how low carb seems to vary quite a bit from person to person, once you’ve cut out the obvious sweet, sugary and highly processed carbs, so don’t assume you’ll have to aim for a punitively restrictive approach. It can just be a matter of finding the sources of carbohydrate that your body absorbs more gently, and finding some more BG-friendly swaps for a few staples, and keeping an eye on portion size of other things.

Over weeks and months of experimentation you can gradually tweak and tailor your menu to find one that suits your tastebuds, your waistline, your budget and your BG levels - and a way of eating that is flexible enough to be sustainable long-term. 🙂

There’s a suggested meal plan here that might give you some inspiration too
