hi i am new to this site and diabetes i was diagnosed last christmas and finding it really hard escpecially at christmas to stay off the chocolate and ice cream ...help . how do you control your demons.
self restraint? motivation, you know that if you eat these things it will mess with your diabetes so you don't want that to happen, therefore you don't eat the food.
or you could replace the chocolate and ice cream with alternatives?
yoghurt, fruit? cereal bars etc.
Hi, welcome to the forum 🙂 Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. It can be especially difficult in the beginning to know what you can and can't eat and a lot of people simply try and keep well away from most of the things they assume will be bad - then feel very deprived What you will learn, in time, is that it's OK to treat yourself to those things, in moderation, and especially if they form a small part of a larger meal. Don't worry, you won't be deprived forever!
All I can say is that as the others have said it is hard at the start but if you get your mind set right it does get easier. Try and set yourself small goals and build things up slowly and don't deprive yourself of everything.
Hi chwade and welcome🙂
Although you will have to cut down on naughty foods, you'll feel much better for it. Plenty of advice and support available on these pages.

Are you testing your blood glucose levels Chwade? If you do that you'll perhaps find out that some of the things you consider as treats aren't as bad for you as you think.
