As you are only in the at risk category then really it is just a bit of a nudge to have a look at your diet and the amount of carbohydrate you are having as it is all carbohydrates which convert to glucose. I expect the advice you have been given is low fat because of the heart issues and that makes it more tricky to reduce carbs as without replacing those with protein and healthy fats then all the dietary advice for Type 2 diabetics is for weight loss.
Some modest changes may be all that is required, so cutting out things like cakes, biscuits, and sugary drinks including fruit juice and just reducing portions of some of the other high carb foods mainly bread, potatoes, rice, pasta and breakfast cereals and the hidden carbs in pre-prepared foods and sauces or make some lower carb substitutions. But in your situation just go easy on doing that so modest changes but up your protein and include healthy fats which I assume will be Ok for you.

The book or app Carbs and Cals is a useful resource for giving carb values of a whole range of foods so will help make better food choices.
Many people think they can have no carbs but that is NOT the truth and it is a matter of finding the balance of what YOU can tolerate.

Do you have anyone in your close family with diabetes? And how did your test results come about? Were you feeling off colour, or was this just a general health check?

Do you know what the result of your HbA1c was? This is likely to be a number between 42 and 47, with 48mmol/mol being the point at which a diagnosis of diabetes is usually made.

Hopefully a few modest tweaks to your menu, and moderating your total carbohydrate intake a little will be sufficient to get your levels back to pottering along in the normal range.

Do be on the look out for increased thirst, frequency of urination, and any unintentional weight loss though - diabetes comes in a variety of exciting flavours, and while you may be assumed to be ’vanilla’ to start with, there is always the possibility that you might actually be one of the more exotic varieties - some of which can move quite quickly between appointments.

There’s a downloadable guide with general information about enjoying food with diabetes here which you might like
