Hi haz, welcome to the forum 🙂 Have you been diagnosed long? What regime change is happening?

Haz hi and a warm welcome to the forum pleased you have joined us. Happy 2013 to you

Hi guys - thank you for the warm welcome although I would rather not be a member of this club🙂
I have been T2 since mid 2010 and my GP practice simply put me on metaformin in higher and higher doses until recently I got an overload of Lactic Acid which was not pleasant. So being Christmas my doc was closed and I came online searching for advice and information, and read up what folks were saying in general. I stopped the meds, felt much better within a day or two and have since been running a new regime of low carbs, no meds. My doc is having me in for a review next week and is okay with my scores in ther meantime. In fact my scores are better then when on metaformin although I expect that could be a short term result. I had no idea about low carb effect until I read posts in here so I am really grateful to you all. I have learned more in a few days in these pages than my practice nurse has shared with me in two and half years. I only got my testing supplies a month ago because I moaned so much. I feel so much more informed and in control now thanks to what I have learned in here. Thank you all.
the 'haz' name is short for haz bin fatr. My new regime has seen a drop of 10 pounds in two weeks 🙂)

Hi haz, what a great weight loss - well done! 🙂 Love the reasoning behind the name! 🙂

It doesn't sound like you've been given much in the way of good advice since you were diagnosed, sounds a bit lazy/uninformed from your GP/nurse, hopefully they will take a bit more interest now you have started taking control. I hope the better numbers continue to improve on your new regime - let us know if there is any way we can help! 🙂
