Hi Hexchen. Three things that can tell you if things are working...

1 You feel better. If peeing a lot was one of your symptoms, then that should get back to normal

2. Measuring blood glucose regularly using a meter. If you read round the forum you will find loads of info on this

3 Get another HBA1c in 3 months or so. This is the one the medics generally prefer. Probably the best measure but the feeback loop is long.

Wasnt given a meter so will have to look into maybe getting one .and yes the constant running to the loo has stopped .have Been taking two per day and upping to 4 tomorrow so fingers crossed with diet change I can bring it down quite a bit x

Hello @Hexchen
So good that you have joined the forum.
Diabetes is a serious disease, but it can be positively managed and in many circumstances, you can do a lot to help yourself and there is a help and support available. You will need to make a few changes though, and these need to be sustainable, as this is for the long term.

I would suggest starting by reading Maggie Davey's letter, which gives a lot of information on how this lady approached the problem.
It does all take time to find what’s right for you and adjust your lifestyle, but please be patient, it will be very worthwhile, and there is more information on useful-links-for-people-new-to-diabetes (scroll down to type 2.)

If you want to measure your progress, a glucose monitor is a way to find this out,
It will help if you can find out which foods cause your blood sugars to rise, and eventually arrive at a lists that lets you maintain good blood sugar levels, that you enjoy eating, and fits your lifestyle in terms of how much preparation and cooking you like and have time to do.
SD Gluco Navii is one of the cheaper options .
Look at https://loraldiabetes.blogspot.com/2006/10/test-review-adjust.html for information on how to test.

I hope this helps, and there is a lot more information available if you browse around the site.
Please ask any questions, and let us know how it is going
Best wishes

Hi @Hexchen
another T2 here, I managed to get my HbA1c under 35and below since diagnosis just under 2 yrs ago by following the advice from this forum. @Toucan advice above is great. i would suggest you follow it , but don’t forget to still live your life while making the changes you need, it’s not a sentence it just a life change which will make you feel better...
Regards
