My husband has just been diagnosed as Type 2 diabetic which has come as a bit of a shock to him. We put down to how he was feeling down to back problems - trapped nerves and arthritis - and is on a cocktail of meds for that. He also got referred for bariatric surgery as he is having problems losing weight. From there my husband had to have blood tests done and this is how we found out.

He is more stressed than I am because my mum was insulin dependant diabetic so I got used to her routine. I'm after support so I can be even more supportive to my husband :D

Hi Pip and a warm welcome to the forum, sorry to hear about your hubbys diagnosis is he on meds for diabetes? Lovely to see you on here showing such love and concern for him also.

p.s great hometown born and bred in Co Durham me x

Welcome to the forum Pip 🙂

Yes hubby's on meds, He's on gliclazide twice daily which will gradually be reduced over 6 weeks then stopped and metformin which will be increased over 6 weeks. We are fortunate we have a good medical practise so we are already getting support from there. It's just good to know we can get support here as well from people who are living with diabetes every day.

Hi Pip. Welcome 🙂

Sorry to hear of your husband's diagnosis. Possibly the hardest thing is learning to accept that he has it and being able to be proactive.

It's good that you have good medical backup. That's a rarity in itself.🙂
