Hello everyone,
I'm 52 years of age and have been T1 for 42 years of them.
I've been on a pump for 8 years, my current pump is up for replacement
in June so wanted to gain some information and other people's
experiences on the Accu Chek Solo.

Gary.

Welcome @G.R 🙂 I’m a pump user but have never used that pump. I don’t know much about it, but hopefully others might.

You could start a thread in the pump section here, asking for experiences of all the pumps you have to choose from maybe. There’s also the Search facility, top right of the page, while you’re waiting for other replies.

My pump is a DANA RS and I’ve been pumping for around 17 years.

If no one on here can give you an answer there is a Facebook group that is dedicated to AccuChek pumps to which I belong, there are quite a few people on there on the solo pump. See https://www.facebook.com/groups/524305930928528 I've been on the Combo pump for nearly 8 years because my clinic stopped offering the Insight due to the problems it was throwing up, so I got another Combo last time. Hoping for the Omnipod Dash come November

I have no experience of the Solo either.

I have been another combo user for eight years. I very much liked the Bluetooth connectivity enabling me to manage everything through my test kit. Now on a Medtronic 780 and self funding sensors, so working with a closed loop system.
there are so many to choose from now and they all have their pros and cons.
do let us know what you choose.

May i ask why your going for the Omnipod Dash over the Roche
Solo. I've looked at both as i would like a patch pump but can't decide between the 2. Not sure if your provider is the same but
i was told yesterday that if you choose a patch pump you're
not locked in for 4 years as with a traditional pump, so if you don't get on with it you can swap to something else.....perfect.

The choice with my clinic is either the Omnipod (hopefully by November it will be the Dash) or the Medtronic. The Medtronic doesn't have a handset for bolussing. As a female there are occasions when I wear a dress (not often) and the thought of fishing in my underwear to get the pump out at a wedding or similar isn't welcome or dignified. I think my clinic went off Roche pumps when they had a lot of trouble with the Insight. Hence I am on my 2nd Combo. After that they offered the Animas or the Medtronic and of course the Animas is not on offer any longer. So it's Hobsons choice if I want a patch pump.

Welcome to the forum @G.R

Good luck with your new pump transition.

Hope it all goes smoothly. Always a little daunting moving away from the familiar benefits (and glitches and irritations!) of one pump into the unknown of another.

I find you only really get to know what a pump is like after you’ve lived with it for a couple of weeks. Because they all do basically the same thing, but the nuances and tiny differences in user interface etc can make a huge difference to your experience.
