Hi, diagnosed 5 years ago never had the guidance and care my sister has had. Looking forward to be educated
I'm afraid that it is very much by chance if someone gets good care and advice about type 2 diabetes.
Many have found that a few wise words on the subject of carbohydrates - the sugars and starches, are all that is required to make all the difference to glucose levels - though that is for an ordinary type 2.

I found everything in this link made perfect sense and by following the principal rather than obeying every word was something that has worked for me. https://lowcarbfreshwell.com/ However whether it would be suitable for you may depend on what medication, if any, you are taking.
How much help people get does seem a lottery but hopefully you will have picked up some good practice from your sister.
Would you like to share a bit about how you are managing your condition, what your HbA1C is and any medication as that will help people made appropriate comments.

Welcome to the forum @Catsaregood

So sorry to hear you haven‘t felt well-supported :( Are there hints and tips you can pick up from your sister‘s care?

Has your HbA1c reduced over the past 5 years? Or remained roughly stable? Or crept up slightly? The diagnosis line is 48mmol/mol, but some join the forum at 100+, so while 79mmol/mol is on the high side, others like @Martin.A started higher and were able to reduce BG levels to a healthy range with some substantial changes to his way of eating.

Have you made many changes to your menu since your diagnosis? And is your weight where you’d like it?
