Relationship to Diabetes
At risk of diabetes
Main concern is I know I consume far to much sugar, I get very strong sugar urges that are difficult to control
Any advice to reduce these sugar urges please???
I take no medication for diabetes at the moment and haven't in the past, blood are sugar levels high
Do take predosloine for inflammatory arthritis which can make you feel hungry

Hi Mark, have you been told you are at risk of diabetes or are you just concerned you might be? Steroids can make you feel hungry but believe me, sugar is not the best way to deal with it. If you are concerned about your blood sugar levels then you need to know that it’s not just the obvious sugary foods that matter, it’s also carbohydrates, especially rice, pasta, potatoes and bread, these are all things that will push your blood glucose up. Do you know what your current levels are?
 
Hi Mark, as CathyB has said, it's not just about sugar, so there are other things you can do to reduce your bg levels beyond eating less sugar, such as reducing your intake of carbohydrates.

If you do have a sweet tooth, there are 'sweet' options that have less impact on bg levels than others. For example 'diet' soft drinks or some people find dark chocolate to be good for easing sweet urges.
Fruit or yogurts can also be good 'sweet' food as long as you are keeping an awareness of portion sizes (for fruit) and sugar content for yogurts as this can vary greatly.
