No advise yet I will be meeting nurse this week. No more ice cream ?

Well im type 1 and still eat ice cream!!! just not as much and as often as i'd like 🙂 Everything in moderation is my motto lol.....

Hi knottyabbey, welcome to the group! I eat ice cream most evenings, so it is allowed! I tend to go for the 'lighter' low-fat style and eat with something like tinned peaches, so I get one of my 5-a-day at the same time!🙂

Hope all goes well with the nurse - do feel free to ask any questions you might have before you go, sometimes it helps to have a little knowledge beforehand so you have an idea of what to ask and what might be concerning you.

hi and welcome
like the otheres i still have it 2 or 3 times a week have mine with tinned pears also the low fat style like northener x

Hi Knottyabbey welcome to the best diabetic group on the internet, like the others I too still enjoy my ice cream. Someone on this site, quite awhile ago mentioned a diabetic ice cream it is called "Franks"..I found it in Morrisons and have used it ever since, it is better than normal ice cream 🙄:D

Ice cream

Hi Steff , Thanks for the info re.Franks will get down quick can't live without ice cream , comfort food !🙂

Thanks John , Found loads of sugar free jam and sugar alternatives so far also sourbread has no yeast and is good apparently - can't remember why ?

Hi Knotty Abbey

Have you really been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, then left with no clinic contact? It seems unlikely that you've been put on insulin and left alone. If you are going onto diet control, with or without tablets, then you probably have type 2 diabetes. And generally, people with type 2 have to ontrol their diet more than people with type 1 (who can take insulin to compensate).

In any case, there are plenty of people here who can can give advice, particuarly to specific questions.

Hi Copepod , No, type 2 , sorry did I say type one . Just had some of Franks ice cream thanks to advice on here. Onwards and Upwards .

Your profile says Type 1 - might be worth changing. It makes it easier for appropriate advice to be given.
