I'm Sappa and quite new to diabetes. I didnt know until I took very poorly. Although my GP had known over nearly a year earlier but failed to tell me or do anything about it. They also knew I was extremely anemic which all lead to my week long hospital stay and me being put on insulin.
I've been very stable since until now where my blood sugars have spiked and I don't know why. I have this contant sweet taste in my mouth but that may be nothing so don't want to jump the gun.
Anyway, I'm a mum of two 1 girl and 1 boy and my daughter has made me a proud nan nan of a beautiful granddaughter. She is the princess of the family. 6 mths old now. Time is flying by and I am married to an amazing man. We have been together 27 years and still going strong. I think the secret is a good sense of humour.
I love diamond art and use it to pass time as I am bed bound. The few times when I am up I have a motorised wheelchair but that's mainly when I go to hospital. I also love my laptop and watching the soaps with my mum. She comes every day. I don't know what I'd do without my family ❤️ They are the cement that hold me together

Welcome.

Doctors and communication. Hmmm

Probably best to seek good professional advice. Things have changed. You don't want to end up in hospital again!

Welcome to the forum @Sappa08

Thanks for sharing a bit about yourself. You are so right about family. They really can be a source of amazing support for some people.

Sorry to read that the communication from your Drs wasn’t very timely, and you ended up in hospital :(

Anaemia can affect the results of an HbA1c check and make it unreliable, so they may have not been aware of how far out of kilter your levels were becoming. It still isn’t good enough that you weren’t told though!

How are things with your diabetes now? Are you still on insulin, or have they moved you to alternative meds?
