Hi,I'm Samantha but preferred to be called Sam,i am type 2 diabetic on insulin.

Hi Sam and welcome.

Would you like to tell us a bit about your diabetes? Things like ....

How long have you been diagnosed and how did that come about? ie. Were you symptomatic and if so, which symptoms or was it picked up via a routine blood test?

Which insulin(s) are you using and how are you managing with them?

Are you on other meds as well as insulin?

Do you have a Constant Glucose Monitor (CGM) to track your glucose levels or are you reliant on finger pricks?

Is there anything particular that brings you to the forum? ie. Are you having problems or have some questions that you would like to ask or perhaps just wanting to compare notes with others who face the same daily challenges that diabetes confronts us with. If there is anything you need help or support with, please ask.

Hi,i was diagnosed 3 years ago after not feel to great, bathroom visits throughout the night,i was put on metformin, cut long story short i couldnt control high levels so was put on Novarapid 3 times a day with changed to Trurapi & Toujeo,i know see a dietetics nurse to try & get my readings under 10. I have the freestyle libra 2 so i can keep an eye on my readings,I also have other issues, just would like help with meals.

I am guessing your HbA1c result was pretty high at diagnosis if you were getting symptoms like frequent toilet visits. Did you notice any weight loss? Did you make any dietary changes when you were first diagnosed? It is a little unusual to need insulin so soon after diagnosis and I am wondering if perhaps you might be a misdiagnosed Type 1. Did anyone ever consider this or do any tests like C-peptide or antibody tests?

Great to hear that you are on Multiple Daily Injections (MDI) and have Libre to help track your levels. How are you managing with the insulin? It is a steep learning curve but hopefully you are getting to grips with it a bit now.

What help are you needing with regard to meals?

Welcome to the forum @Samr68

How long have you been on insulin? Are you adjusting doses to match with the carbohydrates you are eating?

How have your readings been going since you’ve been on the insulin?

hopefully you will get loads of support and the advice your looking for on this great forum
