Hi there, i'm new to this so any tips for getting around the site would be greatly appreciated.

I am joining as a step mum of a lovely boy Tom who is type 1 and would love to chat to other step parents/parents who would like to air/talk /chat advise etc.....

Think its tough being a parent of a diabetic? you want to try being step parent and having no say or control.


My husband SeN10el has had some real useful and supportive advice from so though it was time i joined to.

Hope to chat with some of you soon.

Not a parent of a CWD, so can't really comment on those challenges, but just wanted to say welcome.

There's a 'useful links' thread with some great info at the top of the newbies section. There's also a link there to a list of common abbreviations that might come in handy 🙂

Hi NikkiF- welcome to the forum - our son was dx dec 8th 2011-he was 15 then.To be honest I found it very hard at first and the forum gave me so many useful answers as I felt I couldnt keep ringing our hospital -even though they were fine when I did- now I feel alittle more like I understand it - and each hurdle we get through gives us abit more confidence- we have had holidays abroad, teenage parties!!!! a huge amount of sporty things 2 work experiences etc-and have survived- I think its great youve joined- welcome again
