Hi everyone, I'm new here. I was diagnosed on Tuesday (9th Aug) with type 2 and I have no idea what I'm meant to be doing, eating or what to expect.

My name is Chrissy, I'm 29. I live in Swansea with my fiance Owain, two cats and my beautiful Yorkie Terrier Millie. I'm getting married next May (12th).

I cant think of anything else to say lol. Just thought I'd drop in and say hi!

Hi chrissy and welcome, I am two months further on, lots of info here... Am sure more knowledgeable members will post soon but I couldn't get my head round it if it wasn't for this site

Hi Chrissy, welcome to the forum 🙂 Sorry to hear about your diagnosis, but you have come to the right place! There is lots of useful information in our Useful links thread - I'd especially recommend Type 2 Diabetes: The First Year by Gretchen Becker, it will give you a real handle on things 🙂

Please feel free to ask anything that may concern or confound you - there are lots of people here who have no doubt wondered the same things and foung the solutions or answers! 🙂

Hi Chrissy and welcome to the forums. You've done well to find us so soon. I waited nearly 7 and a half years to come here! It's all very confusing to start with and the best advice I can give you is to check out the links Northener has given you and ask anything you want to know. We're not health care professionals but we have a wealth of experience and empathy between us. Take care and I look forward to getting to know you better. XXXXX

Hi Chrissy, I too was diagnosed with Type 2 on Tuesday 9th August - was totally confused when I left the GP with a handout and not much else - I've had a wobbly week but had a lot of encouragement from guys on this website - feeling more positive 🙂

Hi Chrissy, welcome to the forums, I'm a newbie too, but this seems to be a fabulous place for help and support 🙂

Thank you so much for the lovely replies! I feel so welcomed and am looking forward to getting to know each of you. I feel like I have found the perfect place to start this new life change!

I thought I'd give a bit more information about me. I found out totally by accident that I have diabetes. As I said I'm getting married in May and we want to start a family straight away. However, I was married for two years before but unfortunately things didn't work out and we divorced. We had tried to have a baby for a couple of years but it didn't happen. So now I'm getting married soon I went to the dr's to start fertility testing and was sent for blood tests and they found that my blood sugar levels were very high and was sent for a glucose tolerance test and that's when I found out I have it. So I've got a lot of medical stuff going on atm lol. Now I'm doing the fertility treatment thing (well investigation first) and the diabetes thing lol. Strange how things work out but cant moan. Should just be glad that I found out now and now years down the line!! I am also a needlephob!! So I guess I'm gonna have to get over that now lol.

Thanks again,

Chrissy x

Yep, because quite a few of the fertility medications are injectable rather then pills.
