Hi Wendy, welcome to the forum 🙂 Please feel free to ask any questions you may have, or join in the conversations whenever you wish 🙂 How have things been for you? What medication are you currently on?

I've recently been changed from metformin to sukkarto 1000mg 2 a day. But my diabetes isn't good at the mo so doctor said may have to have another one along side it.
Its my own fault really as due to my mental health issues I'm terrible at taking my meds.
But I joined to ask what foods do people avoid or limit. I'm already restricted as I'm vegetarian. As feel I need to make changes. As I also have interactive thyroid so the weight is becoming a issue.

Welcome from a T2

Hi Wendy and a warm welcome to our forum ,from another Type2. You really should be taking your medication as prescribed & advised by your GP - you're not helping yourself hun or your diabetes by not taking the meds - Sukkarto is another type of Metformin in so much that it is a slow release med - its kinder. Do you have a Tablet dispenser at home - if you sort your tablets into the days of the week you will see what tablets you need to take on each day of the week - and is a reminder if you miss a dose - this is how I keep on top of my meds - without it I would be at a loose end!

There is a thread here that gives us food menus; recipes; etc you may want to look there for inspirational ideas as to what you eat - may i even suggest that you open a thread entitled vegetarian food - no doubt one or two folks on here will be willing to pass on any tips and ideas to you - good luck Wendy and take care x

Hello and welcome to the forum. The main thing to remember about vegetables is that those that grow above the ground are better than those that grow under it because they have less carbohydrate. I also have an underactive thyroid so I know that it can be difficult. I like fruit but have to restrict myself because of the sugar content. Do try the recipes section for some idea of tasty vegetarian food. As others have said do try to get into a routine with your meds as that will help a lot. Good luck 🙂

Thank you when I'm low with my depression and eupd everything goes out of the window. I'm trying to get control of my life its following a breakdown etc. But I'm doing my best to gain control.
When I get a chance I'll do a thread thanks as I've read in other places about reducing carbs but that's a big part of my diet that's why I asked.
