Hi looking for some info if anyone can help. My daughter is 20 with t1. She is going off to Australia for a year to work. Looking for advice on insurance and how to travel with her insulin. Also does anyone know how much it would cost to buy the insulin and how easy it is.

Welcome, I can't help with your query but someone who can will be along I am sure!

Hi Welcome. Sorry I can't help much either. We do have members who travel they may be along later
You could also give our helpline number a ring tel:0345 123 2399
Their are Frio wallets/bags which only need cold water to keep insulin cooler they only need refreshing every couple of days . one person on here uses a small thermos flask filled with cold water to do the same, I believe they empty it when going through airports.

Hi Jackie, welcome to the forum 🙂 I would suggest your daughter contacts the Diabetes UK Helpline service - they will be able to direct her to the most up to date and reliable sources of information:

https://www.diabetes.org.uk/helpline

Also, general travel information is available here:

https://www.diabetes.org.uk/travel

Plus, she may find it useful to browse the Diabetes Australia webpage for information about living and working there with Type 1:

https://www.diabetesaustralia.com.au/

I hope she has a brilliant time! 🙂
