Hi Viviennes
Welcome to the group, I’m also T2 diabetic, tablet controlled (Metformin ) and manage my diabetes by limiting my carbohydrates intake during the day.
Please feel free to ask any questions and if I can’t answer there will be someone here who can..

I started on diet controlled then things went from bad to worse, and had a stroke, which made my diebectese worse, and put on insulin, which sometimes I'm struggling with, I have a sister and brother which is also a dibectic

Hi Viviennes and welcome from me too.

So sorry to hear you suffered a stroke as well as diabetes. I hope that you have regained as much function as possible from it.
Which insulin are you using and what sort of problems are you experiencing with it?

Hi Barbara, due to my stroke, I have short term memory loss, and a movement disorder, not helpful, but my husband is paralysed down the right side with limited speech and MS, so really we are a disfuntial family, have to joke otherwise go crackers, I'm on humlin mix 25, inject twice a day, morning and evening, blood glucose when they drop, drop very quickly and I'm very tired and pretty useless afterwards, normally fall asleep for a few hrs ,then no help to hubby. Hope you are well, thank you for making contact,

Welcome to the forum. My ears pricked up there for a bit regarding "tags and threats". I thought a bit of argy bargy was forthcoming! 🙂

I can't help with the insulin side of things other than to say that you need to somehow level out those blood glucose peaks and troughs. There are others on this forum infinitely more experienced who can help you with that. Well, apart from your medical team who should be able to advise as well.

I am rapidly approaching my ten year diagnosis anniversary and have been one of the lucky ones who after some initial medication (gliclazide and then metformin) was able to come off the medication and be diet/exercise controlled ever since (although things are going a little Pete Tong at the moment, but not disastrously so yet).
