Hello Steve and welcome to the forum. How long's a piece of string? Im afraid there's no clear cut answer to how long Levemir lasts, it varies from person to person, and can also vary depending on how large a dose you're on. Most people find it doesn't last the full 24 hrs, and it may tail off towards the end. I take mine twice a day for that reason, but because I seem to need very little insulin overnight, I take 5units in the morning, and 2.5 at night, and they don't seem to overlap much. The only way to find out what works best for you is to do some basal testing, record the results, and try and work out the best dose/timing for you personally.
Edit. There's a good article on basal testing here.

Hi Steve, glad you found the forum. What Robin says!

Hi Steve welcome to the forum🙂.

The splitting of Levemir made a big difference for me, as I was able to match the amounts needed for night and day more accurately, just like @Robin mentioned. I also liked this split as I was able to adjust my day time insulin to match what I had planned for the day, without mucking around with the night time basak Insulin.
