I’m not kidding it’s that awful .. what can be done to reduce the smell ? .. I’m sure this has been added before bit all I can find is the “it’ll go awayin time “ .. sadly this really isn’t ! Any advice is greatly recieved

Sorry to hear abour your partner’s diabetes,

How long has your partner been taking Metformin. It’s not something I have direct experience of, but from reading the experiences of others, taking with a main meal that does not contain too much carbohydrate can lessen any gastric upset. There are also Slow Release versions that are gentler on the tum.

Sadly for some forum members, the upset stomach side effects never seem to resolve. Has your partner experimented with reducing the total carbohydrate content (not just sugars) in their diet? Many forum members have been able to do without metformin by changing their way of eating. though he would need to reduce carbohydrates gradually because of the potential for gliclazide to cause hypos when carbs are not balanced with his meds.

The metformin has been for about 6 years. .. trying to get him to talk to the diabetic nurse is difficult he has a long standing distrust of medication and medical things .. I’m surprised he’s been taking it at all .. thank you for the reduction of carbs. He eats loads of white bread .. ll see if I can get to reduce this

Often the problem is people don't change their diet when diagnosed and then more and more medication needs to be added. No good taking medication and still eat the foods that are causing the problem.
Reducing the carbs he eats though but cautiously may help.
Have a look at this link for ideas for doing that. https://www.freshwell.co.uk/
