Welcome to the forum @Outofsorts. We were all out of sorts at the beginning!

There is a learning curve to diabetes, so don't worry about trying to understand everything at once. Feel free to ask any questions, many people here are friendly and willing to help. 🙂

Welcome to the forum @Outofsorts .
Sorry to hear about your diagnosis, and it is not surprising you are feeling out of sorts. There is a lot to take in. Just take it step by step.

You might find it useful to dip into the Learning Zone (an orange tab at the top of this page ) and also the useful information for newly diagnosed in the Newbies section of the forum. Have a read and come back with any questions that you have. Nothing is considered silly one reason. Just ask.

Thank you for a warm welcome everybody, due to lockdown I can read a lot more about this diagnosis , I have a nurse ringing me this afternoon so will take it from there.
I’m 71 , 72 next month so coming to this a bit later in life lots of support from my family just not able to see them as I am shielding with my husband who has a lung problem, and Missing 3 grandchildren of which 2 are twins 6 yrs old and a 10 yr old and the days are soooo long !!!!

So glad that you found us here as we're more than happy to support you through this. It's lovely to hear that you have the support of your family, can only imagine how much you miss them so I hope you get to chat with them soon.

Were you able to get some help from your nurse?

I had never noticed that Learning Zone Tab up there staring at me before,
but then again I do struggle navigating web pages of all sorts, think I need a bigger I pad or a desktop computer with a BIG screen..

The Learning Zone was only introduced a couple of years ago.

The forum has been so helpful and given me the knowledge to ask the right questions to my doctor I just wished I had found it sooner thank you all

Hi Cherrelle thanks for your welcome, I didn’t get much info from nurse really it was more about having access to the internet as not everybody has , so was going to chat about the ins and outs of diabetes. I had been advised on several sites including this one sent by iMessage from my surgery so I had been reading nothing else to be honest since being diagnosed ! We did discuss portion sizes so I could maybe eat some of my favourite foods .

Just to let you know... I am here on my mobile and I have no orange tab at the top. You have to go to the main forum page and it is listed there.
Thanks that is very helpful. I shall adapt the responses to suit.
