Hi I’m a newbie to this group but have been type 2 diabetic for about 18 months now was doing really well lost 4 stone but have gained half a stone this last lockdown

Welcome @Josie4471 🙂 Losing 4 stone is fantastic! I know it must be disappointing to have put those 7lbs back on but losing a few pounds is a do-able job for someone who’s lost 4 stone🙂

Has it been snacks that have caught you out or just a lack of normal exercise?

It’s both really crisps and savoury snacks are my down fall I also find exercise a problem as I suffer from severe anxiety and panic attacks so don’t like to leave the house I’ve been looking for some good exercise programmes I can follow indoors

Ah, I sympathise @Josie4471 Some crisps I simply can’t leave alone. They’re quite addictive. I simply don’t buy them now.

Have you looked on YouTube for exercise videos? That can be a good source. You could also simply do some walking or jogging on the spot for an increasing number of minutes while you watch TV. Depending on how fit and agile you are, walking up and down stairs can be good exercise too. You can buy small dumbbells to hold too.

Hi Josie4471, welcome to the forum.

Such a great achievement to have lost that amount of weight. Things will ebb and flow but the important thing is getting back on track.

I second YouTube, a great source of vids with a huge variety. I've found Zumba and skipping to be great for a home work out so do have a look for what may tickle your fancy.

We've got lots of info in general on the site so feel free to look around and let us know if we can help in any way.

Welcome to the forum @Josie4471

Ah yes! The old lockdown nibbles problem. You are not alone there!

If you find it difficult to know where to start with exercise, you might really benefit from Diabetes UK’s Live Well Move More programme, which is designed to help people find ways of getting more activity into their week.

The lovely @Francesca DUK will be able to help, and you can find out more about the programme here:
