Hi everyone it's nice to meet you all, so I'm lying in bed craving cheesecake so I google diabetic cheescake and it brings up a forum thread of people discussing what they miss most and by the end of the thread I'm ready to run to Morrison's for a pack of profiteroles, but luckily it Shut at ten ;-) well it's nice to meet you all. I have been diagnosed two years ago, during that time I have been quite negligent...however I had to make a change ...going toilet ten times a night wasnt working for me and now I feel great with my new meds. It's nice to meet you all looking forward to learning about more self discipline and how to control the urges.

Welcome to the forum.
What type are you and what meds are you on?
I remember the sleep deprivation due to the frequent toilet visits.

Hi I'm type 2
I started on metformin that wasn't working for me at two X 1000mg so now I'm on glicazide and algoliptin which seems to have reduced the sugar levels quite alot this morning first time after two years I felt like my sugar was low when I tested it (6.7mmol) four weeks ago it was 26.5mmol can't quite believe it

Hi and welcome . Those cravings are horrible. I’m sorry to say those carbohydrates seem to be sooo addictive, it does get easier though , honest ! Overtime our tastes changes.

I used to work for Allied Lyons testing cheesecakes and other foods - personally I'd rather go hungry than eat cheesecake ever again - I have not touched it for decades, I find it revolting.
Tastes do change - I used to drink coffee with sugar, now I add a little cream and I'm fine. If it is bitter I add a tiny amount of salt - try it sometime and see.
