Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
I have recently been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and given Metformin tables (500mg) and Aspirin, the doctor only had one leaflet about diabetes and suggested I looked it all up on the net. I have no idea what happen, if I see a specialist and I am on a diet. What sort of diet I hve no idea as he offered no direction as what was required.

I already have Psoriatic Arthritis and I inject Imbrel twice weekly, I was taking Methatrixiate until they nearly fried my liver last year with the stuff.

I do not let things get me down and thats just as well as this news has knocked me sideways a little bit. I work full time for Royal Mail ( no not on the streets ) and I have never let my PA get the better of me yet. Diabetes is not going to beat me either although I have close relatives who had it.

I have only been having one unit of alcohol for the last 8 years and I have been allowed to have alcohol again only recently. The advice on the meds is no alcohol 🙂 .....deep joy

I am looking forward to exchanging banter on here in the coming months/years :D

Hi Ian, welcome to the forum.

I find the Drs comment irresponsible. It wasn't long ago that the BMJ were saying don't use the internet to find out health information as it can be so confusing and in some cases incorrect and dangerous. At the very least he/she should have told you what web-sites you can trust.

The BMJ set up this site

http://besthealth.bmj.com/btuk/home.jsp

to allow patients access to information that they knew could be relied on.
