Hello
I have only just joined the group this morning. Not used or written on a Forum before so please let me know if I have made any errors on this being a first for me.
Have currently 2 questions
First, I suffer badly with sweats to the point of me having to have a towel by my side as I literally feel like someone has turned the tap on. To the point that my clothes both underwear and outer clothing become damp and wet which then makes me irritating and very grumpy to the point my daughter bought me a mug with the words Grumpy Old Git as a joke she does love me honestly.
Anyone out there who can tell me if this going to happen for the rest of my life?

My second question is their anyone on here know of a walking club in Leicester area who have diabetic in their membership or is solely run by diabetics for diabetics? Again please accept my apologies if I am using the incorrect wording. Thank you for any help or support anyone can offer. Regards Smigs

Welcome @Smig's 🙂 You wrote everything fine.

Are you on any medication for the diabetes?

HI Grovesy,
Thanks for your reply
My sweats happen anytime of day or night and anytime of the year.

Welcome to the forum @Smig's

Sweating can be a symptom of hypos, low blood sugar, which you could have as you are using insulin. Are you testing your levels when this happens. Even if it is nothing to do with the glucose levels, it would be useful to eliminate this as a possibility. Have you discussed this with your diabetes nurse. It would be worth discussing whether your dose needs adjusting.

Although walking groups are going to be inactive at present there are likely to be links to some through Ramblers. In some areas there Health Walks organised. Your Practice may know about whether these are available in your area.

Hi @Smig's and welcome. I'm not an insulin user but from what I have learnt it could be a sign of hypo's.

Sweating can be linked to all type of drug side effects. If has only recently started then maybe hypo if it only lasts a short while. Have heard of excessive sweating in non diabetic patients so best to discuss with a GP as it seems to be causing you distress.

Welcome to the forum @Smig's

Well done on joining the forum! If you get stuck and aren’t sure how to do various things, there’s a guide of how to use the forum here which you might find helpful

Have you mentioned the sweats to your GP? As others have said, it might be related to your BG and a symptom of hypoglycaemia, but there are many other possible causes, both related to diabetes like damage to the autonomic nervous system, and other completely unrelated reasons too. So do get it checked out and see if there is something which might help?

Relating to local groups, obviously it’s a bit tricky at the moment as many are not currently meeting, but you might get some help and support for increasing your activity levels through the ‘live well move more’ programme which is looking for participants in the Midlands

Hello and welcome to the forum. 🙂

Just a thought...Have you had your thyroid checked? as this can occur when you have thyroid problems. Thyroid problems can often go hand in hand with Diabetes. Irritability and anger is also a symptom associated with thyroid problems.

@Smig's How is the sweating? Do you think it is caused by hypos as suggested by myself and others, or is it unconnected to your blood sugar?
